"Sado Island Gold Mine" World Cultural Heritage Registration Promotion Project
Gold and silver mined in Sado were transported along the main roads to the faraway Edo (present-day Tokyo). The road stretched for approximately 400 km and was called "Okanka no Michi" (Gold Road), and the post towns along the route prospered greatly. With the decision to register the area as a World Heritage Site on July 27, 2024, we hope to reaffirm the appeal and value of the Sado Island Gold Mine, which has been recognized worldwide, while also conveying the charm of Sado.

*There is no parking available, so please use public transportation.
