During the Edo period, the "Golden Road" was a former highway along which gold and silver mined in Sado was transported to Edo. Many people traveled along this road, and post towns developed along the route. We will be holding a stamp rally where you can enjoy the culture and history along the Golden Road.

How to participate in the digital stamp rally
(No personal information registration is required)

1. Preparation

■Download the "furari" app from the App Store or Google Play .

■ Select "Golden Road Digital Stamp Rally" from "Open Rallies" on the home page and tap "Participate" on the rally details screen

When the display changes from " Participate " to "Stamp Card," your participation settings are complete.

2. Collect stamps

■Go to the checkpoint, scan the QR code and collect stamps!

■You can get stamps by taking a photo of the QR code. You can also get stamps at other spots and collect the number of stamps required to apply.

3. Benefit application

■The rewards available for application will be displayed depending on the number of stamps collected.

Once you have collected enough stamps, open the "Benefits" page, select the prize you would like to receive, and apply.

Sado Ogi Folk Museum and the Hakusan Maru Ship Exhibition Hall

In addition to exhibits on the folklore and maritime materials of the Ogi region, you can also enter a life-size replica of the Hakusan Maru.

Arai Roadside Station Kubikino Information Center

This is the general information center for Roadside Station Arai. It can be accessed from both National Route 18 and the Arai Parking Area/Smart Interchange on the Joshinetsu Expressway.

Roadside Station Nagaoka Fireworks Museum

You can enjoy Nagaoka fireworks all year round at the impressive Dome Theater, as well as displays of launch tubes and fireworks. There is also a wide selection of gourmet food and souvenirs.

Ueda City Tourist Hall, 2nd floor

Located on the east side of Ueda Castle Ruins Park, the building houses a shop on the first floor and a tourist information center on the second floor. Yanagimachi on the Hokkoku Kaido is about a 10-minute walk from here.

Usui Barrier Site

It was established by the shogunate in 1623 as a checkpoint for entry and exit into the Kanto region, and controlled the entry of guns and the exit of women.

Sarugakyo Barrier Museum

A checkpoint on the Mikuni Kaido road. Part of the former official residence is open to the public. Passes, travellers' belongings, and tools used by the checkpoint keeper are on display.

Historic Site: Sado Magistrate's Office Ruins

The government office portion of the magistrate's office, which was burned down in 1858, has been restored. The katsuba area on the premises also introduces the gold and silver ore dressing process.

Former residence of the county magistrate of Annaka Domain

This restored mansion was the residence of the county magistrate of the Annaka domain, and is characterized by its main house, which has a curved-roof structure that is rare in the prefecture.

Historic Site: Sado Gold Mine

It will be registered as a World Heritage Site in July 2024. You can experience the 388-year history of gold and silver mining at the site of actual hand-dug tunnels from the Edo period and the Doyu-no-Warito, where the mountain appears to have been split open with an axe during the gold and silver mining process.

Kanasana Shrine
